JW Middle School Pilots a Plant-Rich Menu for Students
On October 16, 2017, Nutri-Serve Food Management introduced a plant-rich menu at Princeton’s JW Middle School in Princeton, NJ. At the request of the Princeton Community, Nutri-Serve Food Management’s Corporate Chef Trainer worked with the Cooks at Princeton to develop and taste test these new meatless menu items. A Plant-Rich diet focuses on minimally processed plant products with modest amounts of fish, lean meats, low-fat dairy & minimal red meat. Plant-Rich diets have been successful in weight-management, may help and ward off chronic disease, and are beneficial for our plant as meat production leads a greater environmental footprint. Some of the items to look forward to on the menu include: Three Bean Chili, Vegetable Medley with Hummus on Naan Bread, Lentil Nachos, Corn, Tomato & Black Bean Tostados, Black Bean Sweet Potato Quesadilla, a Brown Rice bowl with Kale & Chic Peas, and an assortment of wraps made with chic peas as the protein source. A link to the menu and information about Plant-Rich diets can be found on the JW Middle School Nutrislice Menus Website at Princeton.k12.nutrislice.com.
