The perfect lunch contains the

5 components of a healthy lunch. Portion sizes are based on age group being served.

 

  •  Vegetable (3/4 – 1 cup min)

  •  Milk (1 cup)

  •  Fruit (1/2-1 cup)

  •  Grains (1-2 oz min grain eq)

  •  Protein (1-2 oz min protein eq)

 

*grains & proteins both have

weekly calorie maximums

The school lunch tray should mimic the new

MyPlate educational model put forth by the (USDA). As compared to the Food Guide Pyramid previously used, MyPlate provides a visual example of the components of a balanced meal.
